Scientists Discover

Researchers have identified a previously unknown cat species called the tilcayo, marking the first new feline species discovery in a century. The small, spotted cat represents the first addition to the cat family tree since the pampas cat was documented in 1923.

An avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan killed Nirmal Purja and Kili Pemba Sherpa, two of the world's strongest high-altitude climbers, in July 2026. Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, a fellow mountaineer and friend, discovered their bodies and described the incident to BBC News.
