California bill would require community colleges to provide medication abortion services on campus by 2028
California Assemblymember Catherine Stefani introduced legislation Monday requiring community colleges to offer medication abortion services through campus health centers by January 1, 2028. The bill expands access to reproductive healthcare for community college students across the state. If passed, the measure would follow similar 2019 laws that mandated University of California and California State University systems provide the same services. The legislation affects hundreds of thousands of students attending California's 116 community colleges.
