Magnitude 7.1 earthquake strikes Japan's Kumamoto region

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit Kumamoto on Japan's southern island of Kyushu, with no tsunami detected. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reported injuries, damage to infrastructure including roads and bridges, and incidents of blackouts and fires in the affected area.
