Gas and diesel prices reach record highs amid Middle East tensions
NPR reports that regular gasoline rose seven cents overnight to nearly $4.44 per gallon — a price AAA says has never been higher this late in the year — while diesel jumped nearly nine cents to an all-time high of nearly $6.40 per gallon. According to NPR, the conflict in Iran is driving prices up, and Saudi Arabia's oil exports have been sharply reduced by its renewed war with Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen.
