Turkish FM warns Israel may target Türkiye as next adversary after Iran tensions
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned on April 13 that Israel may seek to position Türkiye as a new adversary following escalated tensions with Iran, stating that "Israel cannot exist without an enemy" and needs adversaries to maintain a conflict narrative. Fidan also criticized military cooperation between Greece, the Greek Cypriot Administration, and Israel as destabilizing, arguing such alliances "bring more problems and war" rather than regional stability. The statement reflects deepening Turkish-Israeli friction amid broader Middle Eastern realignment following Iran-Israel hostilities. The warning signals concerns within Turkish leadership about Israel's strategic intentions in the Eastern Mediterranean.
